If you do not agree with this policy, do not use the website or services.
ScoutingLink is committed to protecting personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Protection Act 2018 and other applicable law.
Data controller
ScoutingLink is the data controller responsible for personal data processed through the platform. Questions and data rights requests can be sent to info@scoutinglink.co.uk.
Personal data we collect
We may collect identity and contact data such as name, email address, phone number, date of birth and location. We also collect professional profile information including football experience, position, performance context, qualifications, employment history, images, videos and documents you choose to provide.
Account data includes login credentials and user preferences. Transaction records are created when you buy a service, but full payment card details are processed by Stripe and are not stored by ScoutingLink.
Technical and usage data may include IP address, device and browser information, security events and interactions with the platform.
Lawful bases
We process account and subscription data where it is necessary to perform our contract with you. We process profile information you choose to publish based on your instructions and, where applicable, consent.
We may rely on legitimate interests to secure and improve the platform, prevent fraud, moderate content and understand service use, provided those interests do not override your rights. We also process data when required by law.
How we use data
We use personal data to create and manage accounts, operate profiles and discovery tools, process subscriptions, moderate listings, relay enquiries, provide support, communicate important service updates and protect the platform.
Aggregated or anonymised data may be used for analysis and product development where it no longer identifies an individual.
Public profiles and sharing
Information deliberately included in an approved public profile can be seen by visitors and users. Private fields are excluded from public pages and printable views.
We may share data with service providers for hosting, authentication, email, analytics, storage, moderation and payment processing. Providers must handle it only for authorised purposes. We do not sell personal data.
International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as an International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum or another approved transfer mechanism.
Security and retention
We use proportionate technical and organisational safeguards including access controls, encryption in transit, secure password hashing, payment separation and audit records. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the service, disputes, legal obligations, fraud prevention and legitimate record keeping. Data that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.
Your UK GDPR rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct, erase, restrict or transfer personal data, or object to processing. You may withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.
You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you believe personal data has been handled unlawfully.
Children's data
A person under 18 may only have a ScoutingLink listing where a parent or legal guardian owns and supervises the account. Under-18 listings use high-privacy defaults and additional moderation.
If we learn that a child's data was provided without appropriate authority, we may restrict the listing while we verify consent or delete the data where required.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the service, providers or legal requirements change. The updated date will be shown at the top of this page.
